On this site you will find information on the flight patterns of the aphids that transmit viruses in potatoes. The information comes from regular monitoring of aphids caught in 7.5 m high suction traps at three different locations in Canterbury, South Island, one in Pukekohe and one in Hawke's Bay, North Island, New Zealand. Weekly updates of aphid flights will be given throughout the growing season, from mid October to June. Management strategies to prevent virus diseases in potato crops are included. Research findings on potato production and integrated pest management will be added as they become available |
